What is a Pendulum pedometer?  Pendulum Pedometers can only ever be postioned on the wasitband! A pendulum pedometer has an arm that goes up and down with every step you take, you can hear the clicking noise, some much louder than others depending on the quality. Pendulum pedometers detects the movement from your hips, hitting a counter each time, so correct vertical placement of these type of pedometers is absolutely essential on the waistband for an accurate step count. All pendulum pedometers do pick up non-step movement such as crossing the legs and even when placing the pedometer on the waistband! 

Waistband or pocket accelerometer  pedometers are a more accurate and better choice now-days.

All Yamax pendulum (spring loaded) are very high in accuracy, but the SW700 is the most popular pendulum style. It has basic functions and does the job well.
